Hotels Update
Hello to all of you flight attendants,
As the spring and summer months are approaching us that means a lot more outdoor activities during our overnights for some of us. All our hotels in our system make a priority to have a safe environment for us.. However, I would like to go over some hotel safety tips to help keep you safe and aware.
1. Always know your surroundings! Never assume just because the hotel is nice and the area looks safe that it’s okay for you to walk around alone. Buddy up with other crew members and if the shuttle is available to take you ask for a ride.
2. Never give out information to passengers regarding where crew members stay at. It is a known fact that flight crew members are a big target when it comes to being followed and stalked. If asked by passengers onboard simply state” we switch hotels all the time not sure of what hotel we stay at tonight.”
3. When checking in the hotels never shout out your room numbers to people. We never know who is around us that might be listening. Simply show your crew members your room number on your key card. Don’t speak it!
4. Always walk together in a group up to your rooms. We try to keep everyone in the same area and on the same floor.
5. Inspect your room before you shut the door. Look for open windows, sliding doors, messy rooms, check bathroom under beds and showers. And report to front desk immediately and ask to switch rooms if you find something is wrong and not safe for you stay in that room. Give a detailed description of the way you found the room. Then email me!
6. NEVER EVER! Open your door if you don’t know who is on the other side. Even if they claim to be hotel staff such as housekeeping, security, maintance and they are knocking on your door at odd hours. Do not assume they are okay and open the door. Call down to the front desk and verify why someone from the hotel staff is knocking on your door at 9pm at night or anytime.
7. Always use your dead bolt locks as well as the latch when you shut the door behind you. Using both locks prevents people from opening the door don’t just assume just because you use the dead bolt that someone can’t just walk in latch the door across .
These are just a few tips to share with you but the best tip I can give is Common Sense. Please use your best judgment on overnights.
Here is an update on a few hotels that I told you I would get back to you on that we had problems with.
AUS- the General Manager has assured us that they have worked on the roach and bug problem here at the LaQuinta Hotel I have personally read a letter he has sent to the company and really wants our business and is willing to do anything he can to fix this problem. If you continue to see a problem with bugs and roaches please email me.
BUR-I know some of you have had questions about the shuttle service in the morning. If you have the 8:55am ShowTime you have to take the 8:00am shuttle that is there policy we have tried to get you guys a 8:30am shuttle but there policy is 8:00 if you request a cab that will be at your own expense not at the hotels.
CLT-We are still working on the Ramada Hotel they have also assured us that they want our business and have been working on the rooms. If you see any bugs or the room is not up to standards please email me.
I have also been asked to mention to you about hotel shuttles. When Curt does the hotel contracts the only obligations the hotel and the company have as far as shuttle wise is to and from the airport. If the hotel provides shuttles to restaurants, malls, or any other place within their radius that is an extra. There have been several complaints from the hotel where the crews get upset with the hotel because they take a long time to be picked up at a restaurant etc. We have to remember that we are not the people staying at the hotel there are other guests and at times it may take awhile to be picked up if you need to be back to the hotel at a specific time then please plan cordially with your time.
Now that we have different show times with other crews members we have to be respectful when we are at the hotel and we have rooms close to each other. There have been numerous complaints from other crew members of TV’s; Radios, etc are too loud in the rooms. Remember we may come in at night but some crew members have an early show the next day. If you plan on company in your room ask to move to another room away from the crews if a room is a available.
I am currently working on a spread sheet with all of our hotels and what kind of services they provide for us. Such as free shuttle service, discounts in hotel, free business center/wifi and area attractions. If you go to a city that gives the crews discounts that I am might need to be aware of to pass on to your fellow crews please email. I Know the Applebee’s in SDF will give our crews a discount at the restaurant as long as you have your badge. Thanks Angie Larson for emailing me with that info. So any other restaurants outside the hotel or attractions that gives us discounts that we can let crews know please email me with all the info. I am trying to get all this info out in a couple weeks for you to carry with you.
Again, if you have problems at a hotel that is a concern to you that I may need to take up with Curt please email me. Remember I don’t know there is a problem with a hotel if you don’t email me and let me know. All emails are kept confidential.
Have A Great Day!
