Greetings from your health,safety and security MEC rep.  As the MEC rep I have local reps (LEC) reporting to me with health,safety and security issues throughout our system. As we become a strongly unified group we are in need of involvement by any flight attendants who would like to volunteer their time and commitment to make our workplace a safe and secure environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Health,Safety and Security reps are members with an interest in improving and maintaining implementation of health and safety issues with regar4d to F/As,aircraft and passengers.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Act as an advisor to your MEC
-Keep abreast of local air safety and health problems and prepare recommendations to be presented to MEC
-Review material,handle correspondence and keep local members informed of current safety developments.

LEC reps are given training by our international  health and safety  staff.

CURRENT ISSUES:

Cabin temperature study being reviewed at AFA Int'l in Washington DC

Red seal on EEMK being changed due to difficulty in breaking open seal on kit

Carry on baggage under legislative bill in Washington (#HR2870)

OSHA participation being lobbied at Capitol Hill for OSHA protection ON the aircraft
