Update from the MEC President
Written by Chantil HuskeyATTENTION FLIGHT ATTENDANTS
October 30, 2010
As of this last week Angie Larson, Heather Stevenson, and I met with the company to settle grievances. We originally had an arbitration set up to settle our grievance on cancellation pay. The company contacted us and asked if we would be willing to settle outside of arbitration. We agreed to as long as we could settle 3 Letter of Agreements (LOA’s). We took this time to use the arbitrator as a mediator for termination cases. We feel that we did rather well coming to mutual agreements and we were able to bring back two termination cases out of three. The cancellation pay is due to the pilots having line guarantee which in return gives them pay for uncontrollable and controllable cancellation pay. Our contract clearly states that we will receive any such cancellation pay as the pilots. This couldn’t have come at a better time. With winter nearing we know that we will see a lot of uncontrollable cancellations and now we will be paid for them!

I would like to send along with my update a reminder about move days when you are transferring bases. If you voluntarily change bases you are not entitled to get moving expenses. However per Section 10 B. 2. A flight attendants schedule will be adjusted by mutual agreement with the company so that two of the existing days off are consecutive for the purpose of moving to a new domicile. For moves in excess of three hundred miles, one additional day shall be granted for each three hundred mile increment, or portion thereof, in excess of three hundred miles.

Update from the MEC President
Written by Chantil HuskeyUPDATE FROM YOUR MEC PRESIDENT
October 12, 2010
I am sorry that I haven’t put out much of an update the last two weeks. I was in Washington, DC the last week of September. I was at the Executive Board Meeting. This meeting consists of all MEC Presidents from every carrier that AFA represents and the International Officers. There we give airline updates and International Committee updates. Both Justin Phillips and I sit on International Committees which we gave reports on. We also did elections on both the International Hearing Board and Appeals Board Committee. I am proud to say that Samantha Alexander and Melissa Leyva have been placed on the Appeals Board Committee as a chair and an alternate. Also at this meeting we were informed about all the upcoming changes in the Health Care Reform and what it means to us. Justin, having been lobbying on Capitol Hill late July has a lot of literature on the Health Care Reform and is going to be working to put something together that he and I can go to the company with. We will keep all of you informed on what will happen to our health benefits come January 2011.

MEC President Update
Written by Chantil HuskeyI have spent the last few days in ATL at a Health and Safety Roundtable provided by our International Health and Safety Representative Candice Kolander. The Roundtable was made up of Delta, United, Alaska, Ryan Air, USA 3000, American Eagle, ASA, Air Wisconsin, AirTran, Horizon, Mesasba, US Airways, and Mesa representatives. It was extremely informative for me to hear all the various health and safety issues from the different airlines. The first day we went around the room reading reports of what was happening at our airlines and what we were doing to resolve those issues. It was nice to hear the input on what could be done or had been done at the other airlines. I look forward to building better relationships with the United and US Airways representatives. I feel that they will be a big hand in helping us in some of our own issues here at Mesa Air Group Inc.
