MEC RSV Committee Update

Hello all-it's been a few months since my last update and I would like you to know what has been going on since.  I went to CLT in January to meet the FAs and answer any questions they may have.  Andy and I met with many and even visited A/C's to personally meet and talk with them.

MEC RSV Update: A MUST READ!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello all-this is your MEC RSV Chair, Laurie Calvagno and I am officially back online and excited to update all of you of what has been going on since my return. THIS IS A MUST READ EMAIL! We recently had a Crew Room sit in PHX which was a HUGE success and much needed. For 3 days, myself along with other reps conducted this sit to answer many questions, clear up confusion regarding FLICA, adding emails to our blast system, discussed recent changes to the attendance policy as well as the recent LOAs and found many FAs did not have contracts.

Hello all-

I would like to re-introduce myself, as well as introducing your local LEC RSV Reps.  My name is Laurie Calvagno and I am your MEC RSV Chair.  I, as well as your LEC RSV Reps, am here to specifically assist all our RSVs with any issues and/or questions you might have. With the implementation of our new contract rapidly approaching, we anticipate many of you will, and should, be utilizing us.

I accepted this new position in November of 2009 after I was on RSV by missing the bid date when we switched to the 30 day bid schedule. I experienced first hand after five years of being with the company what it was like on RSV; it was quite the eye opening experience.  Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed with how our RSVs were being treated and the so called "quality of life" they are subjected to.  I was VERY vocal when I called our union reps and they got to know me real quick.

Many contractual violations were occurring and I "fought" back and based on this, was offered the position to represent our RSVs which I gladly accepted - this position did not exist before until now.  My primary concern are the RSVs yet I have assisted many lineholders as well.

My goals are to help educate (knowledge is power), fight for what is right, restore your faith in your union and hopefully make positive changes for our RSVs and the only way this is possible is if we "hear" your voice.

If I, or the others do not hear from you, we cannot make the necessary changes or assist you.  We all need to unite and become strong!

I am excited to now introduce to you your local LEC RSV Reps:

For  CLT, you have Denise Elmore Jackson and Donette Thomas.  Both are based out of CLT and both are on RSV and can very much relate to the issues you may be encountering.

Nikki Quinones is your rep in ORD/IAD and, interestingly enough, she has voluntarily bid RSV since January of 2010 and has been with Mesa for over 2 years.

Megan Hafley and Katie McIver are your reps in PHX.  Both have been line holders and are now back on RSV.  As Megan has so cleverly stated, it's hard to be back on RSV after having a taste of the sweet life.  Both know the frustrations and are here to help.

Contact information for your LEC Reps can be found under the "Contact Information" link on the right.

Your local LEC RSV Reps are in place to assist you in any way possible and I know they look forward to helping you in any way- feel free to contact and utilize them.  We look forward to hearing from you and again, we cannot help you if you do not make your voice heard.  Fly safe!

Thank you,

 Laurie Calvagno
