Disputing Absences

Hello All,

We all know when an absence at work has occured, be it for any reason crew tracking automatically sends out an emai letting you know absence has been logged and the code the absence was given.

Are you aware that you only have 5 days to dispute the coding if you believe it has been coded incorrectly?

The email reads exactly:

" Our Crew Tracking system logged you (whichever absence), for XX/XX/2011. If you believe this has been coded in error or request the coding to be changed, please forward this email to your immediate Base Administrator for research. You must provide any pertinent informnation to support your dispute. You have 5 days from the date this email was generated to notify your Base Administrator of any non MED/FMLA changes. Once again, if this has been coded in error, after 5 days the coding will remain."

This is not happening. You call out or are late or anything happens that results in missing work you all know this email is going to be sent. What's happening is that flight attendants are not thoroughly reading the email and the 5 days expires. And a disciplinary email is sent out and the flight attendants are SHOCKED to find an absence was coded in error. Reading this email thoroughly will not only ensure the company codes everything correctly, but will also help us file successful grievances to have the codings changed.
